Members Notice Board

June 11th, 2001

Because of the FMD Crisis, our Whit Festival May 26 to June 4  was cancelled. So there were no Walking Festivals in Kenmare for 2001. Please keep in touch as we look forward to a more active 2002.

As of May 11th restrictions on hill walking were lifted and the Long Distance Ways reopened.                    However we, as a club, have decided not to return to the hills until September. Hopefully at that stage, the crisis in Britain will have ended.

NEWSFLASH                                  Múinteoir, Paddy Buckley was recently injured as he attempted to overtake a tractor [on his bicycle]. It is rumoured that he was following in the slipstream of Paddy "Flash" Doyle.

Also seen on the highways and byways around Ballincollig [on his new, big, big, bicycle] was Mr Canty. It is reported that with Cork out of the hurling and soon to be out of the football, he is going to "tackle" the Ring of Kerry on July 7th. Helping to facilitate this is Mr Sheppard, who is taking his recent promotion [Congratulatios John] very seriously, helping to "smooth" the roads for "The Cant".
