Hotel Information
There are several reasons for including Sheen Falls Lodge in a visit to Ireland. First of all, the hotel enjoys a truly memorable location - partly overlooking its own cascading waterfall and a lovely saltwater bay with the Caha mountains in the distance. All of the public and private rooms take full advantage of these memorable views. The rooms and suites are particularly spacious and well appointed - a melange of pale woods and complementary fabrics, expensive marble bathrooms and views of either the waterfall or bay.
The award winning "La Cascade" restaurant is another outstanding feature of the property. Boasting five stars, it's stylish modern design is enhanced by views of the river and falls, both floodlit at night. Vintage wines from the award-winning wine cellar complement the gourmet cuisine.
And if you can bear to leave the comforts of the Lodge, there is a plethora of activities to keep you entertained - on-site riding stables with horses for guided treks, salmon and trout fishing on the River Sheen, Clay pigeon shooting, floodlit tennis and a Health and Fitness Centre with gymnasium, jacuzzi, sauna, plunge pool and steam room.
Beauty treatments include massages, aromatherapy and reflexology. The pretty town of Kenmare with it's charming shops, restaurant and 18 hole golf course is just 5 minutes drive away.
Sheen Falls was originally an 18th Century fishing lodge and in 1988 was purchased by it's present owner who spent £12 million on refurbishment and expansion. It now enjoys the status of one of Ireland's leading 5-star hotels, has one of the highest ratings in the Egon Ronay Guide and is a member of Relais & Châteaux.
