KENMARE PLAYGROUND - Santa Claus comes early for 2004 !!!
 2/10/2024

After 3 years of searching in vain for a suitable location for the Playground, a site has been generously donated to the committee by Brian Gallivan of Kenmare Plant Hire. Recently Brian was approved planning permission for his development near Cromwell’s Bridge, just off Bridge Street. A section of this site has been donated to the committee by Brian for the location of the playground, and he has kindly offered to develop the site and to top that he has offered a personal donation of 5000 Euros towards the fund-raising.

Our sincere thanks to Brian & Donald for such rare generosity, it just proves that Santa Claus does exist !!!

The site has been approved by Niamh O’Sullivan, Community & Enterprise, Kerry County Council, for insurance cover and maintenance. Niamh and Maureen Gudgeon (Chairperson of the P. Committee), were instrumental in producing the Play Policy for the County Council. This will be officially launched in Feb. Maureen and the Playground Committee will be seriously fund-raising, please give generously.

The Playground Committee would also like to thank the following:

Benoit Lorge Pastry Chef in Sheen Falls Hotel, for the beautifully produced boxes of sweets/petit fours, he produced in aid of the Playground. Thanks also to Sheen Falls Hotel as they gave him the use of their kitchen on his days off to produce them. These were on sale in various outlets in town for Christmas. He promises to do them again for Easter. They make a wonderful gift and supporting a good cause. Keep up the good work Benoit.

"D 3 DEGREES" – Mags Mahony, Helen Poff & Aileen d’Arcy – the relay team who competed in the "Lost Sheep Triathlon" in Kenmare, last September. They raised €4,000 for the Playground. Not sure if they will be competing this year as Helen is getting married the week after!!! Thanks girls.
NB. There are still some T-shirts available – so if you want a nice t-shirt and support a good cause please email: info@kenmare.com or sally0@eircom.net or contact Maureen or Aileen.

AN ANOMYMOUS DONATION OF €1,127 WAS RECENTLY DONATED. THANK YOU.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Playground committee please email above or contact Maureen Gudgeon, Templenoe. Many thanks again to everyone; it’s for our CHILDREN.
