Kenmare Adult Education Centre has recently launched its new Programme of Long and Short Courses for Autumn 2003. SHORT EVENING COURSES Computers ECDL email & Internet Web Design Intermediate Computers Computerised Accounts Desktop Publishing Hobbies Calligraphy Dance/Stretch Hill Walking and Map Reading Skills Interior Design Permculture Photography Woodcarving Health & Life Indian Head Massage Keep Fit Massage for Home Use Languages French Italian Sign Language LONG PART-TIME COURSES UCC Diploma Courses Diploma in Community Education Diploma in Development Studies Diploma in YOuth and Community Work IATI Accounting Technician (Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland) Certificate for Special Needs Assistant (School of Practical Childcare/ Froebel College of Education) Childcare Level 2 FETAC (Froebel College of Education/ Shcool of Practical Childcare) SHORT DAYTIME COURSES Computers - Beginners/ Intermediate ECDL Document Presentation Web Design Pinting/ Art & Design Furniture Restoration French Sign Language Lip Reading Italian (FETAC is available with some of these courses) VOCATIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITY SCHEME (VTOS) and BACK TO EDUCATION INITIATIVE (BTEI) VTOS is a free full-time course for people who have been registered unemployed, on a C.E. Scheme or a Health Board payment for 6 months and who would like to improve their education and training opportunities (this starts in September) The BTEI Programme would be of interest to people who would like to do some part-time study and upgrade their skills. The aim is to give people an opportunity to return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. The course is free to those who hold a medical card, are in a receipt of an unemployment payment or means tested social welfare payment (and their dependents). Other unwaged people with less than upper second level education will be either free or entitled to a reduction in fees. The subjects offered this year are: Information Technology (ECDL), Desktop Publishing, Computer Programming, Communications, Personal Effectiveness, Languages (French, Italian, Irish), Mathematics, Cultural Studies, Photogrpahy, Woodcraft/ Woodturning, Art and Design/ Painting, Business Administration. STUDY SKILLS COURSE Are you starting a new course after a long break? This course will help you to brush up on your study skills. It will cover learning styles, note taking, brainstorming, essay writing, spelling ideas, organisation and stress. This is a free 2 week course from 1st-11th September. Please call Jenny on 064 42728 or 064 34258 Also one to one help with course work is available to people taking BTEI and VTOS who may feel concerned about their basic reading and writing skills. WRITE WITH CONFIDENCE Letters - layout and structure, the right way to start and finish; drafting and editing all types of letters. Would you like to read and write better and improve your spelling? There will be a course to help you with this on Tuesdays 10.00-12.00 starting 24th Spetember for 10 weeks.
