Located just a few minutes walk from the town centre and the many restaurants to choose from. The property is set at the foot of Muxnaw mountain, in a 3-acre private garden.The house was built in 1801 as a summer hunting and fishing residence for the Calverley family.

The house was converted for accommodation purposes by the current occupiers, the Boland family. It has been decorated with careful attention to detail and includes many period antiques. Your host Hannah Boland is offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation all year.

Muxnaw Lodge is an attractive gabled Victorian house, with spectacular views of the Kenmare River and the Suspension Bridge. We offer 5 guest rooms en suite with baths and power showers. An extensive breakfast menu is also provided and included in our rates.

Muxnaw Lodge takes it’s name from the Gaelic “Snamh an muc” – swim of the pigs. It was here where farmers would swim their pigs across the river on their way to Kenmare.

Situated on the Castletownbere Road (R571) it is an ideal base for touring the Ring-Of-Beara and the Ring-Of-Kerry. The walk to the town centre allows harbour views and access to Reenagross Park and Sheen Woods on the river banks.

ELEGANT ACCOMMODATION

A the base of both the Ring of Beara & the Ring of Kerry, Muxnaw Lodge is the ideal hub for sightseeing with access a range of activities. The mature landscaped gardens roll down to the shoreline, with a tennis court, featuring an attractive copper beech tree at the entrance gates.
