blueberryhill

Last year, after the birth of our second daughter, a friend gifted me and my family with tickets for a tour of Blueberry Hill Farm. Though this was a period of my life where days seemed to turn into a blur, and sleep was the most desirable commodity, I was very excited for the opportunity to get out of the house.

We drove for about twenty minutes from Kenmare, approaching the village of Sneem, before finding ourselves at the gates of the farm.

First on the agenda for the morning was visiting the farm animals.

My six year old squealed with excitement as she got to feed the pigs, sheep and goats.

The fun continued as Sophie got to learn how to Milk a cow and was allowed to give into the temptation of riding on its back.

The next stop on the tour were the birds. Even my two month old was excited to watch them showing off, laying eggs and running around in an atmosphere of joy and freedom.

After a long exploration of chicken, ducks and turkeys, we came around to our favorite pet-the bunny. Luckier than the ones we kept at home, these bunnies got to spend the day playing outdoors.

After all the hard work taking care of the farm pets, Sophie washed her hands and was taught how to make scones. This wasn’t just some boring demonstration, mind you,

the lesson was very hands-on and child-friendly.

While we were waiting for the scones to bake, we went up into the attic to make some creative candles in whatever designs we fancied.

We ended the tour by having, tea, cream and jam and enjoying the scones baked by our daughter.

The day out in nature seemed to have lulled my young baby into a state of contentment.

We can whole-heartedly say that we cherished this experience as a fun day that brought the whole family closer together and would recommend the 3-4 hour tour to any family with children who love pets and animals.

Thank you Diana, Pamela and Etienne, for the tickets!
